Welcome to The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers
Middle East Branch
The Middle East branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers was established in 1995. Initially called the Dubai branch covering members in the United Arab Emirates, the jurisdiction of the branch was extended to the entire Middle East: Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, Sudan, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE & Oman; and renamed as the Middle East branch.
The Middle East Branch of the Institute is one of the most active branches worldwide. With over 250 members working in different segments of the shipping industry, the branch has a prime position among the professional bodies in the Middle East. Regular networking sessions, academic sessions, specialized training, and corporate training programs are conducted on a regular basis. The student Awards Night, a glittering ceremony conducted every year in Dubai and attended by over 350 business leaders and guests from the region is a permanent event in the Dubai Shipping Calendar.
Professional Qualifying Examinations
The Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQEs) form the pinnacle of the Institute's qualifications. Passing these 7 exams demonstrates your developed knowledge and understanding of the commercial shipping industry. The PQE programme comprises seven exams, taken over a period of up to five years. Of these, four exams are compulsory and the remaining three can be chosen from a list of 12 optional subjects (see the syllabus section on our website).
Advanced Diploma
The Advanced Diploma has been designed as a stepping stone into full professional qualification and suits those who have some industry knowledge. Like the Foundation Diploma, the Advanced Diploma is a recognized and respected qualification and it can count towards your Professional Qualifying Examinations.
Foundation Diploma
The Foundation Diploma is ideal for people with little industry experience, but who would like to gain practical knowledge and a sound qualification. It involves taking the Introduction to Shipping paper plus one other subject from group 1 (except Shipping Business) or from group 2 list of optional papers from the Institute's syllabus.
